Homework Can Be Fun

Trying to get my one of my kids to do homework is like trying to nail jello to a wall.

Or so I thought. For the past two weeks she finished her homework.

What changed you may ask? It actually wasn’t the student. Me as a teacher started to teach at her level.

I was guilty of telling her to go do her homework and she would sit at the table by herself in total frustration.

So I decided to try something different. I got a big whiteboard and wrote math problems right next to her and guided step by step. I handed out hugs and expressed delight at every right step.

I gave her examples to see and now I am happy to be her guide. Oh and I let her draw on my face when she got a page of homework correct.

How can you change your teaching style to bring out the best in your child?
